The course is designed to get anyone, regardless of experience, versed in coding and computer science basics as well as able to functionally create and develop modern web content with code. Students will learn a diverse array of language syntax and techniques applicable to any coding language as well as collaborate with their classmates to build their own portfolio of work that they can take with them upon completion. Time commitment is part time, see course announcements for details.


WEEK 1: Intro to HTML & CSS

Fundamentals of ComputingIntro to Web Development, HTML Tags, Page Layout, Forms, CSS Selectors, The Box Model, Positioning, Bootstrap, Responsive Web Design,Terminal Basics, SASS, Github

WEEK 2: Intro to JavaScript

JavaScript Fundamentals & Computational Thinking, Manipulating the DOM, Control Flow, Conditional Statements & Loops, Objects, Functions, Arrays, Data Structures, Version Control & Static Hosting, Event Listeners.

WEEK 3: Advanced Web Development

Programming Paradigms & Web Development, AJAX, Advanced jQuery, API’s, Classes & Object Oriented JavaScript, Databases.

WEEK 4: Node, React, Portfolio Completion

Node Basics, React Setup, JSX, Props and States, Components, Lifecycle Methods, Portfolio Completion.




ux-designUX (user experience) is at the core of design and functionality in every aspect of physical products, print media and of course web applications. In this 4-week intensive course, students learn the tools and techniques to design intuitive, functional and enjoyable products. Learn the language of UX, theory and history as well as today’s best practices. Beach Coders Ultimate UX course places equal focus on theory and practical applications and students will progress through a final project of their choosing and receive feedback along the way. The project is designed to serve as part of their portfolio, and will be developed incrementally throughout the course.

Intro to UX, history, design basics, agile, lean, waterfall, UX research,rapid prototyping, site maps, workflows, wireframes

MODULE 2 – Week 2

Business analysis and product management, task analysis, content strategy, navigation, taxonomy, responsive design

Developed project presentations, Wireframing, Omnigraffle, Balsamiq, Axure, paper prototyping, lo-fi & hi-fi prototypes, interaction design, error messaging

Individual presentations, Peer/Instructor critiques, What employers are looking for, UX career paths, continued development
